In 2008, the cancer society expects more than 20,000 individuals to be diagnosed
with all forms of brain tumors, and approximately 13,000 people will
die from it. Glioblastoma, the deadliest form of brain cancer, is by
far the most common type, and the incidence rate shoots up at age 65,
according to the Central Brain Tumor Registry of the United States.
Incidence is substantially higher for whites than for any other group,
and men fare worse than women in all racial and ethnic groups, though
researchers don't know why.
